Identity Through Ecosystem, Landscape and the Living Environment
Perspective examines identity through the quiet but insistent lens of ecosystem, landscape and the living environment. If identity rests on the twin pillars of place and language, this exhibition turns deliberately toward the first: place understood not as abstract territory, but as a specific ecology of colour, texture, form and biological memory. Nine artists working across painting and sculpture respond to the ways their own histories, recollections and lived experience are shaped by and in turn shape the natural and environmental conditions that surround them. In the current Iranian context, where questions of collective memory, historical continuity and the fragile relationship between society and its natural environment have acquired particular urgency, the works move between the figurative and the abstract according to each artist's vision. Perspective continues Matin Curatorial House's interest in treating history and memory as materials that remain active, here extended into the living ground of the land itself. Curated by Rosa Matinfar.
